BARAKUDA-Tec Fundamental
Course Objective
The Tec Fundamental Course mediates the basic skills which are relevant for all
technical dives.
This course is the entrance to technical diving and the precondition for all
further courses.
Tec Fundamental concentrates mainly on precision of buoyancy/Trim, finning
techniques, Team-
awareness as well as controlled ascends with the use of a surface marker buoy. A
proper
equipment configuration also comes to the fore.
Preconditions
Minimum Barakuda AOWD or equivalent, Nitrox Basic, minimum 50 dives.
Equipment preconditions in accordance to regulations.
Course duration
Approx. 6 hrs theory with final exam, minimum 3h dive time, recommendations are
approx. 4
dives
Course contents
Theory: equipment configuration related to technical diving, different
philosophies ( DIR, INDIE
KISS, Solo, Teamdiving...) principle of long hose/backup stage, horizontal
buoyancy, trim,
headposition, various finning possibilities, principle and background of the
basic-6 skills,
Team-Awareness
Cost: Euro 399,-
BARAKUDA Tec Advanced
Course objective
The Tec Advanced course deepens the Tec Fundamental skills, which are essential
for safe
technical diving. During this course, critical situations - loss of backgas,
decompression
failures, etc. will be trained and special account will be given to
identification and
resolution of the problems.
During the Tec Advanced, students will learn how to handle a stage and the
potential
malfunctions related to it. Furthermore, dive profiles with obligatory deco and
gas switches
(Barakuda recommends NX 50 below 21 mtrs ) will be trained. Controlled open
water ascends
as well as emergency decompression and diving to a runtime, are also part of
this course.
Preconditions
Minimum Barakuda Tec Fundamental or equivalent, min. 80 dives
Equipment preconditions in accordance to regulations
Duration of course
Approx. 6 hrs theory with final exam, min. 6 dives, total dive time min. 5 hrs -
of which 2 dives
of a minimum depth of 35 mtrs and a minimum decotime of 15 minutes
Course contents
Theory: configuration of equipment, stagehandling, houserouting, dryskills,
basics of
decompression, deep stops, shallow stops, ascending profiles, gasswitching,
oxygen window,
effects of oxygen and nitrogen (MOD, CNS, OTU,
END) , identification and management of
problems under water, gasmanagement, failure of gas - decogas, OOA situations,
Teamdiving
(Formationen, Awareness, Redundance of equipment, etc. )
Calculations of decoprogrammes, diveplanning, gasplanning, creation of a
run-time/decotable,
calculation of Bestix, background of standardgases, emergency management.
Cost: Euro 584,-
BARAKUDA Trimix 60
Course objective
The Trimix-60 course will extend your education with more complex and deeper
dives. The
student will learn how to carry out demanding and safe decompression dives with
2 stages/
gas-changes and normoxic trimix ( TMX ) as back gas - up to a depth of max. 60
meters.
Now, a second decompression gas ( Barakuda recommends EAN 50 and 100% oxygen )
will
be used. Next to an advanced theoretical instruction, open-water
stress-management, rescue
skills and ascends will be trained.
Preconditions
Minimum BARAKUDA Tec Advanced or equivalent
Min. 150 dives, of which min. 25 dives after the certification as Tec Advanced
Equipment preconditions as before, furthermore:
separate ponybottle for the drysuit-ventilation
2 stages with rigging kit, depth gauge and regulator
Duration of course
Approx. 8 hrs theory with final exam, min. 6 dives, min. dive time of 6 hrs - of
which minimum
2 TMX dives with a minimum depth of 45 meters and a minimum decotime of 30
minutes
Course contents
Theory: medical basics of anatomy and physiology, advanced basics of
decompression and
physics, ascend profiles, oxygen window, effects of oxygen, nitrogen, helium,
oxygentoxidity,
influence of cold/dehydration on decompression, psychology of deep diving,
equipment
configuration for Trimix-Diving, dry skills for double-stage-handling,
management of problems
under water, gas failure, OOA situations, calculations with decoprogrammes,
methods of
decompression, dive planning, gas planning, rescue management
Cost: Euro 690,- plus gases
BARAKUDA TRIMIX 100
Course objective
The Trimix 100 course will take your knowledge and skills to a supreme level.
During the course
the student learns how to carry out demanding and safe decompression dives with
multiple gas
changes and a hypoxic Trimix up to a max. of 100 meters depth. Furthermore, use
of a
bottomstage and the malfuntions - which might arise - will be trained.
Bottomstages augment the safety by means of a further gas-buffer and therefore
enable flexible
diveplanning
Preconditions
Min. BARAKUDA Trimix 60 or equivalent
Min. 200 dives, of which min. 25 Trimix-dives since certification to Trimix 60
Equipment preconditions - see Trimix 60, BUT:
3-4 Aluminum-Stages
with gigging kit, pressure
gauge and regulator
Duration of course
Approx. 8 hrs theory with final exam, min. 6 dives, min. dive time of 6 hours -
of which min
2 TMX dives with a minimum depth of 60 meters and a minimum decotime of 60
minutes
Course
contents
Theory: Equipment configuration for diving with various stages, i.e. Scooter,
;Multiple-Stage
-Handling dry exercises, advanced basics of decompression, decompression models,
advanced
aspects of diving medicine, HBO, effects of oxygen, nitrogen and helium,
