Gozo - the pearl of the Mediterranean
Experience the Mediterranean at its best
Diving in Gozo – an underwater paradise. Since the days of Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Hans Hass, the Mediterranean has lost none of its allure for divers. Even though some regions of the Mediterranean are affected by environmental problems, there are still places where its beauty and biodiversity unfold in all their glory. One of these special diving spots is Gozo.Gozo, the smaller sister island of Malta, lies about 150 kilometers south of Sicily in the heart of the Mediterranean. The island is a true paradise for divers and also offers numerous attractions for the whole family. Breathtaking underwater landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and fascinating biodiversity make Gozo one of the best diving destinations in the region.
A variety of dive sites for beginners and professionals
With over 40 dive sites, Gozo offers something for everyone – whether beginner, advanced, or technical diver. The spots are accessible from the shore or by boat, and day trips to the neighboring island of Comino or the main archipelago of Malta provide additional variety. The diversity of the underwater world is impressive: wrecks, drop-offs, rock arches, caves, grottos, passages, and tunnels ensure an unforgettable diving experience. All of this can be found in crystal-clear water with fantastic visibility, where sunbeams dance on the water, which is at least 15 degrees Celsius.
Season & best conditions
In spring and autumn, divers can look forward to particularly atmospheric night dives as the sun sets early - but the temperatures remain pleasantly warm. Between June and November, air and water temperatures range between 20 and 30 degrees, and even higher in midsummer. Even in winter, temperatures rarely drop below double digits, making diving attractive all year round.
The underwater world is fascinating, with schools of small fish, barracudas, groupers, rays and even the occasional seahorse. Underwater photographers and macro enthusiasts will also enjoy the colourful variety of nudibranchs.Diving in Malta or Gozo – what's the difference?
Anyone planning a diving holiday in Malta will sooner or later ask themselves this question. Both islands offer fantastic dive sites – but the experience around them is a very different one.
Malta as the main island means more tourism, more traffic, more hustle. Anyone who has ever tried to get from A to B on Malta knows what we're talking about. Gozo on the other hand is quieter, more laid-back and easier to navigate – and that's exactly what divers who come here appreciate.
And the best dive sites in the region are on Gozo anyway. The Blue Hole – a dive site that belongs on every bucket list. Or the most photographed staircase underwater: that belongs to the MV Karwela, a deliberately scuttled ferry off Gozo that attracts divers from all over the world.
Then there's the sheer variety of dive sites. Walls, swim-throughs, grottos, open reefs – Gozo packs an extraordinary range of diving into a remarkably small area. Beginners and experienced divers literally dive side by side here – each at their own spot, with their own experience.
And the best dive sites on Malta are still within easy reach. Wrecks like the Um el Faroud are part of our programme – day trips to Malta can be arranged on request.
Whether you're looking for a scuba diving course, guided dives or a complete diving holiday package – we put together an offer that suits you, whether you're travelling solo or as a group.
